Commission Decision regarding the follow-up to National Parliaments' Opinions - reply to SEIMAS (LT) - COM(2025)46 final

EUROPEAN COMMISSION Dear Chair, Brussels, 10.6.2025 C(2025) 3837 final The Commission would like to thank the Seimas for its Opinion on the Communication from the Commission to the European Parliament, the European Council, the Council, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions – The road to the next multiannual financial framework {COM(2025) 46 final}. The Commission highly appreciates the engagement and valuable input of the Seimas at this important moment in the debate on the future of the EU long-term budget. Preparations for the next multiannual financial framework (MFF) are currently ongoing, as also mentioned in the Communication. The Communication has launched a process of outreach to Member States, the European Parliament, and all stakeholders, as well as a process of public consultation and a Citizens’ Panel on the next EU budget to gather input in view of the MFF proposals. New challenges and expectations for EU action require reconsidering the way the EU budget works to make it fit for the future. The objective of a free, democratic, strong, secure, prosperous and competitive Europe calls for a reformed and reinforced EU budget – simpler, more flexible, more targeted and impactful. The next MFF will reflect the lessons learned from the current programming period.
