Privacy policy

1. Preamble

On 25 May 2018, after a two-year transitional phase, the European Union's basic data protection regulation (EU-GDPR) came into force. The following privacy policy explains briefly and clearly what data we collect from you, why we collect data and when we delete it from our systems.

We don't simply follow the requirements of the GDPR, but above all it is our basic conviction that your data belongs to you. We collect only data from you which is needed for the provisions and further development of our applications.

In the course of the constant further development of our services, additional applications are initialized from time to time. According to the current status, we do not require any further personal data other than those listed below. However, should this be the case in the future, we will contact you in time and ask for your permission. Otherwise, all further developments are subject to this privacy policy.

2. Your rights

Right of access:

You shall have the right granted by the European legislator to obtain free information about your personal data stored at any time and a copy of this information.

Right to rectification and erasure:

You shall have the right granted by the European legislator to obtain without undue delay the rectification of inaccurate or incomplete personal data concerning you. Furthermore, you shall have the right to obtain the erasure of personal data concerning you without undue delay.

Right of restriction of processing:

You shall have the right granted by the European legislator to obtain restriction of processing.

Right to data portability:

You shall have the right granted by the European legislator to receive the personal data about you in a structured, commonly used format.

Right to object

You shall have the right granted by the European legislator to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, at any time, to processing of your personal data.

Automated individual decision-making, including profiling

You shall have the right granted by the European legislator not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling.

3. What data do we collect from you?

To fully use our services you need to register (user name and email address). While using our services you save personal data in your account, which is saved encrypted to our servers (e.g. alerts, analyses, documents, notes). We are only using this data to fulfill the services you ordered (sending of alerts, showing already read and saved documents, etc.). This data is not passed on to third parties.

Development and improvement
For statistical purposes, to improve user experiences and further development of our services your type of appliance and browser and the operating system as well as your search statements and viewed documents are saved on a server. This data is pseudonymized, so it can’t be traced back to you. Furthermore, our website is using Google Analytics and its IP anonymization feature, to analyze and monitor the use of our service in order to improve its usability (if you don’t agree with this, see 5. Google Analytics, options to object).

Security
In order to avoid unauthorized and / or harmful access to our website, we collect the IP address of the visitors to our website. We use two kinds of cookies: a SessionID and a CRSF-Token (Cross-site request forgery). Both are transmitted to us in encrypted form and are neither stored by us long-term nor used for evaluations of any kind. They only serve our and your security that no harmful website actions can be carried out on behalf of the users.

5. Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics (including the anonymizer function).The operator of the Google Analytics component is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland.

Google Analytics uses cookies, that are stored on your computer. By setting a cookie, Google is enabled to analyze the use of our website. The cookie is used to store personal information, such as the access time, the location from which the access was made, and the frequency of visits of our website by the data subject. With each visit to our Internet site, such personal data, including the IP address of the Internet access used by the data subject, will be transmitted to Google in the United States of America. These personal data are stored by Google in the United States of America. Google may pass these personal data collected through the technical procedure to third parties.

We have concluded a contract with Google for commissioned data processing and fully implement the requirements of the German data protection authorities when using Google Analytics.

The data subject may prevent the setting of cookies through our website at any time by means of a corresponding adjustment of the web browser used and thus permanently deny the setting of cookies. In addition, cookies already in use by Google Analytics may be deleted at any time via a web browser or other software programs.

In addition, the data subject has the possibility of objecting to the collection of data that are generated by Google Analytics, which is related to the use of this website, as well as the processing of this data by Google and the chance to preclude any such. For this purpose, the data subject must download a browser add-on under the link https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout and install it. This browser add-on submits Google Analytics via a JavaScript, that any data and information about visits of internet pages may not be transmitted to Google Analytics. The installation of the browser add-ons is considered an objection by Google.

6. Transfer of your data

With the exception of anonymized usage data transferred to Google Analytics (see 5. Google Analytics), your personal data is not transfered to third parties. We process the data provided by you and generated by us exclusively for the purpose of communicating with you, providing the services you request and improving our website.

7. Storage and deletion of your data

We store your personal data only as long as it is necessary to provide you with our services and to fulfil our legal obligations or in individual agreement and with your expressed permission. We store only pseudonymized data about you beyond our contractual relationship and continue to use it for further developments of our services. It is impossible to assign this data to you. And it will not be stored together with other personal data.

8. Protection of your data

Your account is password protected so that only you can edit the personal information stored in it. We recommend that you use an individual and strong password and that you do not disclose your password to anyone and protect it from unauthorized access by third parties. Although we have taken extensive technical and organizational precautions to protect your personal data in the best possible way, there is no such thing as absolute security.
