European Commission -Speech [Check Against Delivery] Commissioner Roswall's keynote address at Green Week 2025 Brussels, 3 June 2025 Good afternoon and welcome to the EU Green Week! It's great to see so many people here. But let me start by thanking Romain for his amazing performance. What a start to our conference. This year we are putting the circular economy front and centre of the Green Week. When you ask people outside this room what circularity actually means, they will probably mention recycling, right? That's what everyone understands. Some may talk to you about a repair café they went to. Getting their bikes or toasters fixed. Maybe someone mentions that they do their shopping on second hand clothes platforms. All these are good examples of how we all, as citizens, can change our behaviour and develop more circular habits. But it is not enough. During the Green Week, we will of course talk about recycling and repairing and reusing. But more importantly, we want to zoom out and talk about the systemic change we need to make the circular economy a reality on the ground and how to actually drive that change. We need a change of mindset. Not only among consumers, but for businesses as well. Because one thing is clear: the world around us is changing, and we must change with it. In a volatile world – with military wars, trade wars and resources up for grabs – we need to build on our strengths and turn challenges into opportunities. To protect our citizens'...
