EEAS: High Representative Kaja Kallas announces a senior nomination

Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission (HRVP) announced today the following appointment for senior positions in the European External Action Service (EEAS): Mr Christian BERGER has been appointed as Director for the EEAS Crisis Response Center. He comes with an extensive experience of working with external relations both for the European Commission and the EEAS. Until recently, Mr Berger served as the EU Ambassador to Egypt. He previously held positions as the EU Ambassador to Türkiye and Turkmenistan, EEAS Deputy Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa, and Head of the Commission’s Crisis Response Unit. Mr BERGER took up his duties on 16 March 2025.
