On 19 January 2021, the Commission presented a communication entitled ‘The European economic and financial system: fostering openness, strength and resilience’1. 2. One year on, the French Presidency of the Council wished to include in its work programme the adoption of Council conclusions examining in depth the different aspects of the objective set out in that communication: achieving economic and financial strategic autonomy for the EU in an open economy. 3. The Financial Services Committee was tasked with drawing up the conclusions, which were finalised and agreed upon by the Economic and Financial Committee at its meeting on 29 March. 4. In light of the above, the Permanent Representatives Committee is invited to confirm the agreement reached by the Economic and Financial Committee and to recommend that the Council approve the Council conclusions as set out in 6301/22 as an ‘A’ item at a forthcoming meeting. 1 5487/21. 6300/22 JLF/jk 1 ECOFIN. 1.
