European Climate Change Adaptation 2025 Conference: Turning knowledge into adaptation action

Around 400 climate adaptation stakeholders gathered this week in Rimini (Italy) for the 2025 edition of European Climate Change Adaptation (ECCA2025). Organised bi-annually in a different city, ECCA is the science and research event to discuss about adaptation. This year, the narrative shifted the discussions towards security and saving lives. There has been a clear message that replicable good practices, tools and methodologies are needed, and this is already happening thanks to the many projects engaged and committed to climate adaptation. The event featured plenary sessions, networking sessions, workshops, and an exhibition with eleven exhibitors.Many EU-funded projects and initiatives managed by CINEA took part in ECCA 2025, hosting sessions and exhibiting their tools and work in the exhibition space.Matthias Langemeyer, Head of Department C, represented CINEA at the Opening Plenary and delivered the closing remarks at the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change plenary session: Bridging the gap for faster action: Bringing together the research community and regions/local authorities.
