Or. en This amending Directive is a dismantling of core corporate sustainability obligations, adopted only recently after years of hard-fought negotiations. Rolling back the due diligence directive would allow multinational companies to keep violating human rights and damaging the environment with impunity, hiding behind their supply chains — as tragically illustrated by the Rana Plaza disaster. Companies have already been preparing for these rules for two years. Undermining them now creates major legal uncertainty and signals that short-term competitiveness is being prioritised over long-term justice, sustainability, and corporate accountability....
