Visit of Rear Admiral Vasileios Gryparis, Operation Commander of EUNAVFOR ASPIDES

On 5 June 2025, SatCen had the honour of welcoming Rear Admiral Vasileios Gryparis, Operation Commander of EUNAVFOR ASPIDES, accompanied by a delegation from the Operation Headquarters. SatCen Director, Rear-Admiral Louis Tillier, welcomed the Commander and his delegation and presented the Centre’s operational capabilities and workflows. Together with senior staff and geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) experts, the Director highlighted the contribution of the Centre’s timely and tailored GEOINT services to enhance maritime situational awareness and operational planning. SatCen analysts provided detailed briefings showcasing the Centre’s analytical expertise and its contribution to the Operation ASPIDES. The visit provided an opportunity to deepen the ongoing cooperation between SatCen and EUNAVFOR ASPIDES, with a focus on the Centre’s mission-specific GEOINT support to the operational mission of safeguarding freedom of navigation in response to the maritime security crisis in the Red Sea and surrounding waters. In the discussions, the strong and reliable partnership between SatCen and EUNAVFOR ASPIDES was highlighted, underlining the shared commitment to enhancing maritime security and operational effectiveness in the interest of EU strategic and security objectives.
