On Europe Day, the European Union celebrates the unity and long-term peace achieved with the signing of the Schuman Declaration in 1950. What is Europe Day about? We celebrate Europe Day on 9 May, as a reminder of the Schuman Declaration, which was presented by French foreign minister Robert Schuman on 9 May 1950 in Paris. This led to the foundation of the European Union that we know today. This year is exceptional, as it marks the 75th anniversary of that important event.
